Track your visibility in AI search

The AI Results Tracker records whether Google's AI surfaces appear for your keywords — and whether they cite you — over time.

Open in the appUpdated 2026-10-06

The AI Results Tracker records whether Google AI Overview and Google AI Mode appeared for your AI visibility keywords, and whether your site was cited inside them — then keeps the history so you can see your AI visibility as a trend. Your AI visibility keywords are the ones your audits, a confirmed keyword map and generated articles add; you don't pick them one by one.

Appearing and being cited are tracked separately because they're different facts: an AI Overview can exist for your keyword and cite only competitors. That combination is precisely the one worth knowing about.

Watch it for the keywords where AI answers actually show up — informational and comparison queries, mostly. If AI Overview never appears for a keyword, that's data too: many transactional and local queries genuinely have no AI Overview today, and a zero there means "no AI surface exists", not "you're losing".

Read your AI visibility

To read the history:

  1. Open your project's AI Results Tracker tab.
  2. It reads your AI visibility keywords — snapshots accumulate per keyword as checks run.
  3. Read the history as a trend: presence and citations over time.

What each combination means

AppearedCitedMeaning
No—No AI surface for this query — blue links carry it
YesNoAn AI answer exists and cites others — a visibility gap
YesYesYour content feeds the AI answer

The "appeared, not cited" row is the actionable one: the query has an AI surface and your content isn't in it. Passage-level clarity, schema, and being the source that answers the question directly are the levers — see the AI readiness signals in your audit report.

Limits and usage

  • Checks spend live search-data credit per keyword. A nightly check probes one keyword per website, and websites take turns, so a website's points can be a few nights apart.
  • Coverage is Google's AI surfaces (AI Overview, AI Mode). Cross-engine mention counts come from a separate paid lookup you switch on per audit, and it covers Google AI surfaces and ChatGPT only — see the AI assistant mention tiles →.
  • AI surfaces vary by market; the tracker reads your project's market.

If something isn't working

Everything reads "not appeared". This is a plausible real result for transactional and local keyword sets — verify by searching a couple manually. To cover queries where AI surfaces exist, add informational targets to your keyword map and confirm it.

History is thin. Snapshots start with the first nightly check after a keyword joins the list. Give it a few check cycles before reading trends.

How do I compare competitors in AI answers? Use Brand lookup in AI answers at the bottom of the tab. Enter your brand or domain and up to three competitors, then select Run lookup. You get mention counts for Google AI Overview and ChatGPT, share of voice, the most-cited pages and sample questions, each list with a CSV download. Each lookup is a paid data call, so it runs only when you select Run lookup. Results cover your website's market and language. ChatGPT data covers the United States in English only, so for other markets the lookup reads Google AI Overview alone and says so.
