Track a new keyword

Save a keyword on the Rankings page for free, then start tracking it when you want its position, with the price shown before you confirm.

Open in the appUpdated 2026-10-14

You add keywords to rank tracking yourself, on each website's Rankings page. Nothing is added for you: audits, the keyword map and new articles fill a separate list of AI visibility keywords, and those are never rank-checked or charged.

Before you begin

You need to manage the website (a client view can read Rankings but not change it). Saving keywords is free. Starting to track them costs credits, so check your balance under Settings, Plan & credits. Track your Google rankings has the prices.

Steps

  1. Open your website, then Rankings under Measure.
  2. Select Add keywords.
  3. Type or paste your keywords, one per line. Repeats in the list are counted once.
  4. Choose Desktop, Mobile or Desktop and mobile.
  5. Keep the website's country, or pick another. To track one city or region, start typing its name and choose it from the list.
  6. Select the button under the form (Save 100 keywords). Saving is free, and the form shows what starting to track them would cost, for example "40 credits to track these 100 keywords: the first check now and 4 refreshes".
  7. When you want their positions, select Start tracking and confirm the price.

Limits and usage

  • Up to 200 keywords in one go, and 500 per website.
  • A keyword can be saved once per website and place (the country, or one city in it). To change its device, stop tracking it, then add it again with the new setting.

Troubleshooting

The connection dropped while saving

Select Save again without changing the form. Nothing is saved twice.

A keyword I added was skipped

It was already saved for this website and place.

Start tracking says I need more credits

The first check and 4 refreshes for these keywords cost more than your balance. Top up, or stop tracking some keywords, then try again. Nothing was charged.
