Case study
How four fixes took our own site from a C to a B in an afternoon
On July 11, 2026, the day searchblueprint.io went live, we pointed our own audit at it. Standard scope, no special treatment. Every number below is from the two real reports.
- Sitemap listing 500+ URLs behind the login wall
- Login page counted 18 times as duplicate content
- Canonicalization graded F
- 4 indexability failures
- 5 pages with a 15-character title
- Homepage graded D on content depth
The first report, before any fix
What the audit caught on our own site
The grade came back C, 78 out of 100. Not the number you want on the tool's own website. The big one was the sitemap: it still listed over 500 URLs behind our login wall, so Google requested each one and landed on the same login screen.
The report counted the login page 18 times as duplicate content, graded canonicalization F and found four indexability failures. It also flagged five pages with a 15-character title and graded the homepage D on content depth. None of it showed from inside the product. All of it was in the report within four minutes.
Fixing the technical issues, in the order the report ranked them
Four fixes, all shipped the same afternoon.
- Rebuilt the sitemap around the 47 pages that are public
- Blocked the app routes in robots.txt
- Set a title default, with a template for inner pages
- Added a FAQ section to the homepage
The re-audit, run the same afternoon
Every row below is from the two reports, both run on July 11, 2026.
| Metric | Before | Same day, after |
|---|---|---|
| Grade | C 78/100 | B 85/100 |
| Canonicalization | F | A+ |
| Crawling & indexing | D | B |
| Pages Google can reach | 7 | 47 |
What it still flags, and why we left it there
Content now grades F. That isn't a step back. The crawler finally reaches all 39 of our free tool pages, and most of them were thin. The report handed us our next block of work, the same way it would hand you yours.
We ran the free check on eight of our sites and fixed three that night
From July 14 we ran it across the sites we operate. The first pass was the free instant check from the homepage hero, on 8 sites. Four scored under 100. Three of those were fixed and re-checked to 100 the same night; the fourth needed more homepage content, not a quick fix, so it wasn't part of that night's work.

These are instant-check scores (title, meta, H1, headings), not the full audit. The same night's runs also found two bugs in SearchBlueprint itself, which we fixed.
What this means for your site
We built the audit and still shipped this mistake without noticing. Your site may have something like it, and the report tells you which fix to make first. The audit is on every paid plan, and your first plan is free.
Questions about this case study
Was this the full audit or the free instant check?
Both, at different times. Our own site went through the full audit on July 11. The eight-site pass on July 14 used the free instant check, which reads title, meta, H1 and headings.
Can I run the same audit on my site?
Yes, on a paid plan. Start with the free plan for your site, then run the audit when you're ready.
Why publish a C?
Because it's the number the report gave us. Leaving it out would make every other number on this page harder to believe.
