Webflow SEO, step by step: where each setting lives
Nine settings in the order to change them, where each one lives in your Webflow settings, and the Webflow help article that says so.
The settings, in order
Work down the list once. Each step names the panel, what Webflow does by default and what to set.

Stop the webflow.io subdomain being indexed
Site settings > SEO > Indexing
Your site is also published on a webflow.io staging address, which can compete with your real domain in search. Turning its indexing off publishes a robots.txt on the staging address only.
Set the global canonical URL
Site settings > SEO > Global canonical tag URL
Enter your base URL once and Webflow adds a canonical tag to every page. Include https:// and www if your domain uses it, and leave off the trailing slash.

Write a title and description for each page
Pages panel > Page settings > SEO settings
Webflow has no site-wide default title or description, so each page needs its own. Webflow advises keeping titles under 60 characters.

Use CMS fields for collection pages
A Collection page > Page settings > SEO settings > Add field
On a Collection template page you set the pattern once, pulling fields such as the post title into the SEO title and description of every item.

Switch on the auto-generated sitemap
Site settings > SEO > Sitemap > Auto-generate sitemap
The automatic sitemap is a toggle. Once it's on, sitemap.xml is rebuilt every time you publish and Webflow adds it to robots.txt.

Verify the site in Google Search Console
Site settings > SEO > Google site verification
Add a URL-prefix property in Search Console, pick the HTML tag method and paste only the verification ID into Webflow's field. Publish, verify, then submit your sitemap.
Add 301 redirects for changed URLs
Site settings > Publishing > 301 redirects
When you change a slug or rebuild the site, map each old path to its new one. Webflow suggests staying under about 1,000 rules and using wildcards where you can.

Set alt text in the Assets panel
Assets panel > an image > Settings > Alt text
Alt text set on the asset is used everywhere the image appears. The Audit panel lists images missing alt text across the site.
Add schema markup in page settings
Pages panel > Page settings > Schema markup
Structured data is something you add per page in Webflow, including Collection templates. Bind Collection fields so every item gets its own values, then check it in a validator.

What SearchBlueprint does for a Webflow site
A planning tool, not an editor: it doesn't change your Webflow settings. It crawls your site and tells you which searches to go after and which page should win each one.
Try each one below, on SearchBlueprint’s own plan for its own site
1Starting from a blank list
Your keyword list, started from your own site.
Most keyword tools hand you thousands of phrases. Your plan starts from your own Webflow site instead: the searches you already show up for, and the ones a site like yours could rank for.
- Your current position for each search you rank for
- Searches a site like yours could rank for, marked not ranking yet
- Monthly searches and cost per click for each keyword

2Which page gets which search
Give each search its own page.
You've watched two of your own pages chase the same search and neither win. Every keyword you confirm goes to one page. Where two pages compete, you're told which ones, and where nothing fits, the plan suggests a page to create.
- One main keyword per page, across the site
- A warning when two of your pages compete
- Pages to create, where no page answers a search

3What people ask ChatGPT
Questions to answer for ChatGPT and AI Mode.
People ask ChatGPT full questions, not two-word searches. From the keywords you pick, your plan drafts the questions a buyer might ask and ties each one to a page. You keep the ones that sound like your customers.
- Questions for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Mode
- Each question tied to a page
- Remove any that don't sound like your customers

4On a paid plan
A title and description for every page.
Confirm your keywords once and every page gets a title and a meta description in one list, ready to paste into each page's SEO settings. Your Webflow site only changes when you paste them in.
- A row for every page, not just the homepage
- Based on the keywords you confirmed for each page
- New pages to consider, listed with your current ones

Publishing to Webflow
Writing opens to customers in October.
The connection writes generated articles into a CMS collection on your Webflow site, with title, body, slug and metadata mapped into the fields your collection provides, and new connections default to draft items. One Webflow habit matters here: the live site shows CMS changes only after a site publish, so the verifier can only pass after you publish the Webflow site itself.
- 1
Create a site API token
In Webflow, open Site settings, then Apps and integrations, and create a site API token with CMS read and write, since a workspace-level token will not be accepted.
- 2
Copy the collection ID
Open your blog collection's settings in the CMS panel and copy its ID from that settings screen rather than from the page URL, which is how wrong-collection mistakes happen.
- 3
Connect and test
In the project's Publishing tab, choose Webflow, paste the token and collection ID, and send a test publish. Check the item in Webflow's CMS panel, then publish the site.
Items land in your collection, fields mapped
Title, body, slug and metadata map into the fields your blog collection provides. Field mapping follows common collection field names, and a heavily customized collection may leave extra fields for you to fill in Webflow.
Docs: WebflowDraft items until you flip the connection
New connections default to draft items, so posts wait in Webflow for your publish action until you switch the connection to publish live.
Docs: WebflowPublished means the public URL answered
After every publish we fetch the public URL and record what came back. Published shows only when the page was found, a fresh 404 waits out a grace window, and a server error never concludes the page is missing.
Docs: Publish verificationArticles come off a planned calendar
Plan items on the content calendar and write them two ways: click Write on a card, or let Auto-write pick each one up at midnight on its calendar date. Both run the same researched pipeline, which drafts the article and then revises it against the content score across sweeps.
Docs: Content calendarEvery article is scored before you ship it
The content score runs 36 fixed checks in 6 categories, with no randomness anywhere: the same page always produces the same score. Each check comes back as a pass, a warn or a fail, and each failure names its specific fix.

What it won’t do on Webflow
Better to know before your first publish.
The connection fills collections, it does not design them. A CMS collection for blog posts must already exist on the site.
Webflow's own CMS item limits apply. A plan at its item cap refuses new posts, and the connection surfaces that error rather than hiding it.
A new item is not on the live site until you publish the Webflow site. The verifier can only pass after that publish.
- Docs: Webflow
Questions people ask
Items appear in the CMS but the live site shows nothing. Why?
You have not published the Webflow site since the items arrived. Publish in Webflow, and the verifier flips to live on its next check.
Does the connection set the SEO title?
Where your collection has a field for it. Webflow has no fixed SEO field, the designer binds one, so the connection discovers a meta-title-shaped collection field the same way it discovers the description field and writes into it.
What if my collection is heavily customized?
The article still lands. Field mapping follows common collection field names, so unusual extra fields stay empty for you to fill in Webflow.
