Done or N/A turns a check Pass

You've lost track of what got done. Set Progress on a check and its Status follows, so one look down the column shows what's left.

Work the Critical rows first

You've got a site nobody has checked. Add the site and the date, work the Critical and High rows, then copy each failing page to All Fails for whoever makes the changes.

  1. 1

Add the site and the date

Type the website and the audit date at the top of the checklist tab. The check names are fixed, so leave those as they are.

  2. 2

    Work the Critical rows first

Every check carries a priority. Start with the rows marked Critical, then High. That covers canonicals, HTTPS, robots.txt rules, noindex tags and title tags before anything cosmetic.

  3. 3

    Set Progress as you go

Progress has four options: Not Started, Pending, Done and N/A. Done or N/A turns the Status green for Pass. Anything else stays red for Fail.

  4. 4

    List every failing URL

Copy each failing page onto the All Fails tab, one row per URL, with its priority. Hand that tab to whoever makes the changes.

On a paid plan

The Site Audit fills in the failing URLs for you

Site Audit

On a paid plan, SearchBlueprint's Site Audit crawls your site in one click and lists each failing URL with its severity. The credit price is on the Run button. The free tools here still check robots.txt, redirects and schema one URL at a time.

Questions people ask

Is the checklist free?

Yes. Download the .xlsx and use it on your own site or a client's. There's no sign-up and no email form in front of it.

Does it open in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, or use Excel or Numbers. The Progress dropdown and the Pass or Fail formula come with it.

Why 25 checks and not 200?

Because these decide whether Google can crawl, index and read a page: canonicals, robots.txt, titles, links, sitemaps, images, mobile, HTTPS, structured data, error pages and security. Need more? Copy an existing row so its Status formula comes along.

Can SearchBlueprint run these checks for me?

Not yet. The Site Audit opens to customers in October. Today, the free tools on this page check robots.txt, redirects, schema and more, one URL at a time.
