Free keyword map template

Map every keyword to the page that should rank

A keyword map you fill in page by page: the search each URL should target, a verdict of Live, Build or Covered elsewhere, and next steps counted for you.

Opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. No sign-up.

Look inside before you download

You've had keyword research end as an export nobody turned into pages. Six tabs put every keyword against a real URL, with the columns SearchBlueprint's own Keyword Map export writes.

Page Plan

Every page you have and every page you'll add, one row each. The first column is the verdict: Live, Covered elsewhere, Build or Not in plan. Existing URL and Plan Keyword settle the overlaps.

Mark a page Build and it lands in Next Steps

You've been asked what gets built this month. As you mark each page, Next Steps counts the Live, Covered elsewhere, Build and Not in plan rows.

List your pages, then give each one keyword

You've watched two pages split one search. Paste your URLs, give each page one primary keyword, mark a verdict, then work down Next Steps from row 1.

  1. 1

    List your pages

Paste your current URLs into Current Sitemap, one row each. Your XML sitemap is a quick place to copy them from.

  2. 2

    Give each page one keyword

Put one primary keyword on each page and the supporting ones beside it. If two pages want the same primary keyword, keep it on one and note the other in Page Action.

  3. 3

    Mark a verdict

On the Page Plan, mark each page Live, Covered elsewhere, Build or Not in plan. Build rows are the pages you still need to create.

  4. 4

    Work down Next Steps

It counts each verdict for you. Start at row 1 and give every row an owner.

Keyword Map

You'd rather not type the map by hand. The free plan maps up to 15 of your pages: one suggested keyword each, and a verdict of Live, Covered elsewhere, Build or Not in plan. A paid plan lifts that cap and exports the map as a Google Sheet.

Questions people ask

What is a keyword map?

It's a sheet that gives every page on your site one main keyword to target, so two pages don't compete for the same search. It also shows the pages you still need to build.

Why one keyword per page?

Two pages chasing one keyword usually means neither ranks well. One primary keyword per page, with a few supporting ones, keeps each page clear about the search it answers.

What does the Keyword Source column mean?

Researched means the keyword came back from keyword research with real search volume. Suggested means it's worth targeting but no volume data was found. Read it first, so you know which rows are measured.

Can SearchBlueprint fill this in for my site?

Yes. Your free plan maps up to 15 of your pages from your crawled site and your competitors' keywords, and you read it in the app. A paid plan lifts that cap and exports the map as a Google Sheet.
